Iowa Hawkeyes Wrap Spring Practice with QB Battle

The Iowa Hawkeyes have finished their spring practice with the quarterback battle still ongoing.

What's Next for the Hawkeyes?

The team will now wait until August to potentially name a starter.

Jeremy Hecklinski took the first-team reps and finished an unofficial 10-of-22 for 99 yards in 11-on-11 work.

Hank Brown went 3-of-10 with the second team but his completions were the prettiest throws of the day.

The QB Battle Heats Up

Hecklinski has the slight edge right now because he’s slightly outpaced Brown on the first team reps for much of spring.

Brown is the more traditional build and reportedly has been better about making mistakes.

KJ Parker Emerges

KJ Parker entered Saturday with seven career receptions to his name and walked off the field as the player most fans were asking about by name.

The Iowa Hawkeyes will face the Northern Illinois Huskies on 2026-09-05.

And the team is looking to have two scholarship quarterbacks who can move the offense.

But the defensive line is a question mark.

So the Hawkeyes will need to work on that during the summer.

The quarterback battle will likely go through the majority of August, according to Kirk Ferentz.

Offensive coordinator Tim Lester called it “a good problem to have”.

The Hawkeyes are still searching for their starter at QB after the spring practice period ends.
